The Luck of the Irish Be With You!

Published: Tuesday - March 17, 2009

Happy St Patrick's Day, folks! Not lots to report today (even so, I'm able to fill a page...), but wanted to bring you a couple of updates. The first (and it's very exciting), my rooftop vegetable garden seeds are all planted and simply waiting to burst forth from their little cubes of dirt - 3 types of tomatoes, cukes, saucer squash, crookneck squash, zucchini, eggplant, radish (just because they're fun to grow), watermelon and cantaloupe sprinkled with some basil and spearmint. There will be PLENTY to share!

If that isn't as exciting to you as it is to me, then perhaps knowing that the summer schedule is receiving its final touches and will go to print tomorrow will set you all aglow! By Monday, I'll have ALL the classes up on the website for the May through August 2009 trimester! And...a month and a half before May even gets here... Lots of new garment and quilting classes, including a new series of Quilt Mastery courses with Becky, a new Home Dec series with Russell, a brand spanking new garment course working with stretch fabrics, a new bag class working with leather, and of course our ever-popular summer Rock Paper Scissors sewing camps for children 9-16 - lots to keep you and yours "in the sew" at Sewing Arts this summer!

We've got some other surprises in store for you which we'll share as they come into place. We think you'll be mighty pleased with some of the new comings and goings at Sewing Arts in the next few months.  Something we just implemented is our new Sewing Arts Student ID card! As a student at Sewing Arts, in your first class, you'll receive a fabulous laminated Sewing Arts Student ID card entitling you to 10% off all products in the shop and 50% off 3 yards of fabric for your class project during the term of your enrollment in the class! Our new stashcard program will be in place shortly, too, entitling you to accrued savings throughout the year! Just a couple of things we're doing to show you how much we appreciate your business.

And...our 9th anniversary is coming up on April Fool's Day! That's the day when Barbara and Fred handed me the keys to what used to be Bay Cities Sewing Machine Co. Wow...much has changed, including the amount of hair I no longer have on my head... Of course, we'll be having a spectacular Spectacular! And, of course, it's not the night before, so I haven't figured out just what that means yet or exactly when. But, there'll be plenty of reason for you to share in our celebration... I'll bring you the details next time.

In the meantime, I did want to share with you a special that Horn of America (they make sewing cabinets just in case you didn't know) is making available to us through March 31st that will beat even what we can offer during our anniversary celebration. Horn is working hard to earn your business, too, so is making a special manufacturing run of its 2136 and 2156 cabinets in All White and Sunset Oak. If you order either of these cabinets between now and the end of the month you'll save 30% off the suggested retail of either of these cabinets. AND, if we can pull together an order of 1000 pounds or more (approximately 12 cabinets), we'll save even more because the order will ship FREE! If we can pull a 1000 pound order together, we'll pass the savings on to you by giving you a $50 Sewing Arts gift card upon delivery of the cabinet. The only caveat - once we place the order, you've got to be willing to wait a few weeks while Horn manufactures your cabinet. (The cost of home delivery isn't included.)

If you were eyeing a Horn cabinet but it wasn't a 2136 or 2156, if you order by March 31st we can bundle it with the shipping on the other cabinets saving us both some money! We'll extend a 20% discount on your cabinet of choice and a $50 Sewing Arts Gift Card. Give me a holler for further information.

That does it! Looking forward to seeing you at Sewing Arts!
