Drum roll, please... It's Sewing Arts!

Published: Wednesday - June 16, 2010

Evening, folks! Or morning, more likely by the time you get this. My best plans to write more frequently keep getting squashed by the need to sleep. But before I nod off, thought I'd pop in with a howdy-do.

Let's see...what haven't we been doing? First things first, when you have a chance, please stop by and offer up a warm welcome to Tabi Farnsworth and Paige Saxby. Tabi started with us a few weeks ago, and is absolutely a delight to have working with us. Paige joins us for the summer and will begin expertly assisting Betty with our children's Rock Paper Scissors summer sewing series' next week - all which are full speed ahead. Several sessions are filled with waiting lists, but give a call if you are still interested. There are plenty of spaces toward the end of the summer that will begin filling here in just a few weeks, I'm sure.

Our introductory pattern draping class begins tomorrow (or is that today?), Thursday, June 17, from 10 AM - 1 PM with Sona Hadidian (who has amassed quite the little fan base, I might add... she is quite remarkable, I might also add...), as well as our photo transfer class in the evening, from 6:30-8 PM. Jeane Starkey's Bettie Cotton Theory quilting class meets Thursday. If that weren't enough, Susanne Cole begins part one of her 2-part quilting and embroidery class, "Kitty's Kritter Quilt" this Saturday - a must do class for all of you who've been itching for a slam-dunk machine embroidery and quilting class.

If you've been out of the class loop and you'd like to get looped back in, simply check out the classes tab on the website, www.SewingArtsCenter.com, give a holler, or download a copy of the newsletter from the "Click Here for Newsletter" tab on the home page.

On the retail front, there's plenty in store! One thing I've been meaning to let you know, we've started taking special orders for Quilter's Dream batting, and are placing orders on Tuesdays. So, if there's a batting or two or three for which you are in need, let me know, and I'll be sure to put it on my Tuesday order so that you'll have it when you need it. Actually, all my ordering is done on Tuesdays now (I'm trying to be organized...), so if there's anything at all you for which you have a need and we don't have it in stock, let me know and I'll be happy to see what I can do to get what you need into your sewing hands.

We're also moving out floor model sewing machines and cabinetry, gearing up for the fall (yes, I know, summer hasn't hit, but fall certainly will before I know it.) We've got Brothers (Quattro 6000 anyone? be still my heart...), Baby Locks and Vikings all well below list price, and all looking for good sewing homes. We've also got several Horn Cabinets that need homes, also waaaayyy below list price. Once they're gone, they're gone. (A few machines and a couple of cabinets already found homes today prices were so good...) So come on by and we'll be happy to assist. (You'll also find all Brother and Viking accessories at 30% off through Saturday, June 19 - what a lovely way to treat yourself for Father's Day...or summer...or solstice...you pick, we aim to please!)

And what else... Oh! I can't believe I almost forgot this - we are currently accepting applications for part time work at the shop for Sundays and Mondays. If you know you have wonderful people skills, have a love of sewing, can handle managerial tasks and are prepared to take on the retail sewing world, give a call! I'd love to talk with you.

That's all he wrote folks! Hope you sleep/slept well. And I hope the day smiles broadly on all of you.

See you soon!
