Creative Sewing Geniuses Everywhere!
Good morning folks! Winter is in the air, and it’s going to rain… be still my heart! It’s a glorious day. (Sounds kind of like something you’d hear from Morticia of the Addams Family…) As much as I love sunshine, I adore the rain. For some bizarre reason, all of a sudden all I want to do is sew. Funny, I still don’t want to cook…
However you feel about the weather, I hope the day is smiling on you!
I haven’t sat down to write you since before my 8-day rafting trip through the Grand Canyon in early September. Talk about glorious…absolutely without question one of the most wonderful trips I have ever taken. Put it on your bucket list of must do’s. You can’t help but be humbled and equally inspired. And of course, I took oodles of pictures. But it’s one of those trips that after awhile, every turn of the river opens up yet another spectacular vista, and your camera begins to spend more time in your pocket than in front of your face – probably a more apt place for it.
Now, on to sewing… You might recall that we launched our longarm quilting machine hourly rental in September, and it’s going great guns! Becky’s teaching one more Innova longarm quilting mastery series (10/14 & 10/21 from 6:30-9) so that you can get up and running and quilting, too. It’ll be the last one until January, so you won’t want to miss out, as this training is required before you can rent the Innova machinery.
And we’re equally pleased to announce that we have become the first west coast representative for the Prodigy Quilting machine. It’s up and running at the shop, has been put through its paces, and is ready for test drives today. Pretty danged cool, if you ask me…
Lots of new equipment by Baby Lock, Brother and Viking has just made its way into the market including Brother’s new 6-needle PR-650 (equivalent to Baby Lock’s BMP9), and Baby Lock’s new Sashiko machine and new series of overlocks. With all this new equipment poised and ready to arrive, we need to make room, so we are moving many floor models at hugely reduced prices, including Baby Lock overlocks and Baby Lock’s 6-needle BMP8 embroidery machine. If you’ve been thinking about investing in yourself and your creative sewing genius, now’s a great time to get in on great equipment at great prices. Limited to stock on hand.
On classes, everything is in full swing, and most are filling to capacity. Thanks! For Sharon Schamber’s December workshops, there’s just a couple of spaces available still in her classes (supply lists will be up tomorrow on the website.) We’ve also added another session of Quilt Mastery for Landscape class. It’ll be with Becky on Friday, November 20th from 6-9 PM and Saturday, November 21st from 10-4 PM. And and and... this Thursday evening starts the Center Series portion of QuiltWorks QW1A featuring two quilts: Confetti and Outside the Box.
And don’t forget about Stitch Lounge on the 2nd Friday of the month from 7-10 PM with Jackie Smerek – bring your sewing projects and your questions, and she’ll provide you with expert advice and assistance.
We also have our new Stitch Café for hand embroiderers on the 2nd Monday from 10:30-1 PM and 3rd Thursday from 6:30-9 PM each month. This class is hosted by Barbara Lillis, and each month there’s a stitch-along project, but your also welcome to bring any hand embroidery project that your working on and she’ll be there to provide all the ins and outs…
And finally, we’ve got Sewing with Starkey on Sundays (10/18, 11/15 & 12/20) from 1:30-4 PM. This class is designed especially for our machine embroiderers. Each month features a different project, and this class provides the perfect opportunity for you to dig your teeth into your machine embroidery equipment (don’t leave teeth marks…)
That’s it! Great to see so many of you at the shop and sewing. Don’t forget…the holidays are almost upon us… Nothing speaks more kindly or generously than something hand-crafted by you for friends and family…
See you soon! xoxo RC (yep, it’s Conte now…) and the Sewing Arts Gang
