Those Who Know Sew at Sewing Arts

Published: Tuesday - October 20, 2009

Hi, folks! Isn't it an absolutely breathtakingly beautifully scrumptious day? If you haven't been outside, drag yourself away from your computer screen and take a walk around the block. This is the sort of day for which people move to Southern California! Cool, breezy, blue skies... fall is coming!

Hope you're all swell! With the holidays fast approaching, lots of folks are sewing. Just a quick little reminder if you're gearing up for holiday sewing, it's a very good idea to bring your machine in for a check up so that when you need your machine to perform flawlessly it does... Preventive maintenance...

Also, if you've been thinking about a new machine and a new home for your machine (aka a cabinet), we're clearing out all of our floor and classroom models. We've got some great deals on some very fine sewing equipment that'll keep you smiling throughout the season. (And with such great deals, it's not a bad idea to treat yourself to a present for the holidays just a bit before the holidays...) And, we finance, making it all a little bit easier...

On classes, our early morning fast track series has been hugely successful! I had no idea that there were so many of you prepared to brave the dark of the early morning for early morning classes! So far, we've just entertained our sewing series. However, I wanted to find out if others of you would be interested in early morning quilting, home dec or bag classes? Let me know what you think and if you'd be interested. If so, I'll see what we can do to entertain those classes in the near future.

And lastly, though this has absolutely nothing to do with sewing (except we all enjoy good music and good food and pretty places), I just received the most lovely invitation in the mail from the newly formed Metropolitan Master Chorale announcing a benefit performance this coming Sunday. I know of several you out there who are closet shower singers with lovely voices, and I know the Metropolitan Master Chorale is auditioning. I thought I might just put the word out so that if your voice is looking for another voice with which to sing, the Metropolitan Master Chorale might be just the ticket. Check them out at www.MetroSings.org. (You'll absolutely adore the Artistic Director, Glenn Carlos.)

I'm going to the benefit performance this Sunday from 4-6. If you'd like to join me, let me know. Tickets are $75 (tax deductible). And...to entice you to join me, if you bring me proof of having purchased a ticket for the event before the end of the month, I'll give you a $75 merchandise credit at Sewing Arts! (Then I'll torture you into auditioning, too... just kidding...)

Hope to see you Sunday afternoon! Have a great day! (Now...get up from your computer, and get a breath of fresh air... looks like a beach day to me...)
