Sewing Arts - We've Given It Our Best

Published: Friday - June 5, 2009

Hi, folks. Yep, the news is out! We've begun liquidating our ENTIRE inventory!

What does this mean for you? Well, first, it means you’re going to save a bunch of money on a bunch of inventory that we are compelled to move quickly. We are selling EVERYTHING at hugely discounted prices – sewing, quilting and embroidery machines, embroidery software, machine accessories, cabinetry, ironing systems, fabrics, threads and our expansive inventory of notions. We also have a large inventory of class samples including quilts, garments and accessories that are going – you name it. If it isn’t nailed down or doesn’t already belong to someone else, it needs to find a new home before June 30th, 2009. (We even have some behind the scenes equipment we'll be selling - a couple of laptops, printers, shelving... I'll have a better idea about that next week...)

What else does it mean? The long and the short - we'll still be here! And we'll still be in business! We'll still offer classes - in fact, we anticipate developing this portion of our business even further. We will continue to provide authorized sewing, quilting and embroidery machine repair. And we'll continue to offer quilting and embroidery services and private instruction, too!

It does mean we're re-tooling our business entirely. Initially we thought we were going to have to close the retail portion of the business, but we've been able to stave that off and to put a plan in place that allows us to liquidate everything, then to re-evaluate and finely hone our retail offerings. For instance, instead of offering 30 types of thread, we'll pair back to four... Fabrics are going away (and remarkably fast I might say!). And, yes, that means our entire inventory of fabric. In the future, if our circumstances merit it, we'll revisit carrying fabrics, but it's simply too expensive to warehouse fabric at this juncture.

We'll still proudly represent Husqvarna Viking, Brother and Baby Lock sewing, quilting, embroidery and overlock machines and accessories, as well as provide machine instruction classes and authorized service. Where you'll see the greatest change is in our focus - a move away from fabric, a sensible line of notions and a stream-lined line of machines and accessories. Where you'll see immediate growth is in our educational offerings. Be prepared for an amazing array of educational opportunities at Sewing Arts. (By the way, we're interviewing for instructors...Give me or Becky call.)

That covers it. The past couple of days have been absolutely crazy busy (Thanks!I might get some of that debt paid off yet!), and it portends to be mightily busy throughout the month. There are absolutely amazing deals on machinery and cabinetry of which many folks have already availed themselves. And as much as I'm motivated to sell, this entire process is all the more joyful when Becky, Yolanda and I can share these deep discounts with our buddies...

This week, the general discount throughout the shop is 10% (machinery and cabinetry are upwards of 20% to 40% off). And throughout the month, each week the discount will increase. However, if I was shopping I wouldn't wait - easily 25% of the fabric has already found new homes. (And if I might be so bold - all sales are final and the price quoted is the price. This is hard enough... OK?)

We're not normally open on Sunday, but I'll be here this Sunday, June 7, from 11-4.

See you soon!
